Shipping outside New Zealand. The unit travels on a temporary-import basis (bond, temporary admission or carnet, depending on your country), and we manage that with our broker. It helps enormously to have your institution's shipping or procurement contact from the start — the border query goes to them, not to you in the field.

4 · Hire terms

  1. The unit stays ours. The SYP, its case and accessories remain the property of Waikato Scientific Ltd throughout the hire.
  2. Bond. A refundable bond is held for the hire period and returned in full when the unit comes back complete and in working order, fair wear excepted.
  3. Care and use. The unit is used per the operating manual, by or under the direction of the named hirer, and isn't opened, modified or sub-hired.
  4. Consumables. Vials and bungs supplied with the hire are yours to use; further consumables can be ordered separately.
  5. Freight and customs. Outbound and return freight are charged at cost. For destinations outside New Zealand the unit enters on a temporary-import basis; the hirer cooperates with re-export before the customs deadline, and any duty or penalty arising from a missed re-export is the hirer's cost.
  6. Return. The unit is returned in its case by the agreed date using the return instructions we provide. Late return accrues at the monthly rate pro rata.
  7. Loss or damage. The hirer is responsible for loss of, or damage to, the unit from despatch until it is back with us or our agent, up to the unit's replacement value. Check whether your institution's equipment insurance covers hired instruments.
  8. Support. Deployment advice by email is included. A unit fault that isn't misuse gets a repaired or replacement unit despatched at our cost, with hire paused meanwhile.
  9. Cancellation. Cancel up to 10 working days before despatch for a full refund; after despatch, the first hire month and freight are payable.
  10. The formal agreement. These points summarise the rental agreement you'll countersign before despatch; that document governs.
